On Sunday in a horrendous gun battle between security forces and militants at Nazneenpora village in Pulwama district’s Tral, Srinagar, A police constable was killed and two terrorists gunned down, the battle lasted for more than 15 hours,
S P Vaid, director general of police said that an Army major along with three other security personnel as well as two soldiers and one CRPF personnel were also injured.
Aaquib Bhat, a Hizbul Mujahideen operative and Saif-ul-lah alias Osama, a Pakistan-based associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed they were killed in the encounter and identified as a bellicose terrorist. They also Aaquib Maulvi, Bhat and for the last three years, they were active in the area.
Terrorists Manzoor Ahmad Naik and the constable killed by the gunfire was all part of the special operation group of J&K police.
On Saturday security personnel threw a cordon around the house evening, acting on specific information that militants were present in a carpenter’s house. The Firing began at 6 pm around 9 am on Sunday, security forces, using an improvised explosive device, razed the house and killed the Hizb militant but the Pakistani terrorist was alive till late in the evening under the remnant of the house.
Curfew restrictions were imposed around Tral to keeps people safe and prevent them from getting closer to the battlefield but even after that much safety and restrictions, some local people came close to the battlefield hurling stones at the security forces for trying to disrupt the operation but the situation was brought under control, according to the officials. But in the Sunday’s encounter at Tral village, four protesters were injured in clashes between locals and security forces.
