India crushed Australia by eight wickets as the opener Lokesh Rahul hit an unbeaten half-century and with that India win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on the fourth day of the Test series on Tuesday at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala (India). Just like that India won the four-Test series 2-1 to end the home season on a strenuous note.
In the home season of 13 Tests series, India lost only one and in the end finally got the victory in its hand. The match is really breathtaking in which both teams fought with determination and have looked into each other eyes but neither one has blinked even once. And against Australia, this is the fourth successive series victory at home for India after 2008/09 (2-0), 2010/11 (2-0) and 2012/13 (4-0) as well.
This victory also says a lot about the character of the players who were led excellently in Dharamsala by Rahane, after winning this Test without Virat Kohli and winning the series after the 333-run thrashing that they got in the first Test in Pune. Ravindra Jadeja, Wriddhiman Saha, and Umesh Yadav turned out standout performer as well the trump card too for India in this Test.
Well, Credit should be given to Australia for giving the India a tough fight when many thought it’s just a breeze to win for India but instead of breeze, they turn out a storm that hard to be gulp. Captain Steve Smith led the team towards the way that can give Indian cricketers hard time and led from the front with three centuries in four Tests.
As assumed, the Aussies tried hard to ascertain that India certainly does not grab the victory. The Aussie pacers make sure that the Indian batsmen never had it facile in the middle as spinners Nathan Lyon and Steve O’Keefe exposed.
And finally, the Brief Scores of this test match is- India 332 & 106/2 (Rahul 51*, Rahane 38*: Cummins 1/42) beat Australia (300 & 137) by 8 wickets to win series 2-1.
