Just look at beneath you and say thank you to your Earth mother (if you are standing on the earth, and if not, just thank her anyway) for giving you life along with so many things, which keeps you survive. And let’s celebrate the Earth Day. Earth is everything for us; if there is no earth, then, there will be not a single sign of the human being left. Well, its oblivious earth is the one who made as so there can’t be any imagination of life without Earth. So, we must protect it and stop harming it like we are doing until now.
There a whole story behind why are we celebrate this day as an Earth day, the first Earth day celebrated in 1970, that time this celebration held in more than 193 countries. It’s all started when a peace activist John McConnell proposed an idea at a UNESCO Conference in 1969, which is held in San Francisco. The proposed idea was that we should devote a day to honor the Earth along with the concept of peace. It’s first celebrated in the northern hemisphere on 21st March of 1970, at the first day of spring. Later at the United Nations, This day of thanking Earth and Nature was sectioned in a proclamation, which is written by McConnell and signed by the General Secretary U Thant. After a month by Senator Gaylord Nelson, an individual Earth Day was propounded and first held on 22nd April 1970. Later Nelson work was recognized and he was awarded by ‘Presidential Medal of Freedom’ for his work. But at the beginning 22nd April, Earth Day only focused on the United State. Denis Hayes founded an organization, took this honorable Earth day in Global World in 1990 with organizing events, which is held in 141 nations. Denis Hayes was the original national coordinator in 1970.
Well, this is the story of the birth of the Earth day. Now, we have this day for celebrating and thanking Earth, so let’s promise to ourselves that we keep our beautiful planet clean and protect, won’t harm it again especially knowingly, plant the tree and plants as much as we can, and protect them at all cost, nourish them, and one day see them growing happily.
We always love our Earth with all our heart; so, we will always keep it safe.
Wish you all Happy Earth Day.
